Inactivity Balance Capture FAQ
What is changing?
Airwallet will make accounts inactive after 12 months of complete inactivity to reduce administrative workload and ensure proper handling of long-term dormant accounts. When an account becomes inactive, the remaining wallet balance will be captured in accordance with the terms.
Why does Airwallet capture balances on inactive accounts?
Inactive accounts create ongoing administrative and operational costs. To manage these costs and maintain secure processing of unused accounts, Airwallet captures the remaining balance after the allowed claim period has ended.
Will I be notified before my balance is captured?
Yes. During the final 30 days of the claim period, you will receive two notifications via push notification and/or SMS reminding you that your account is becoming inactive and that the remaining balance must be claimed if you wish to retain it.
When is an account considered inactive?
An account is considered inactive when it has not been used for an entire billing period. Under Section 11.2 of the terms, the period of validity then ends on the last day of the next billing period.
What happens when the period of validity ends?
As stated in Section 11.2, you may claim the remaining balance for up to one year after the end of the period of validity. During this one-year period, you can still request a payout.
What happens after 12 months of inactivity past the end of the validity period?
If no claim is made within the one-year window, Airwallet is unable to refund the balance. At that point, the remaining balance is captured.
