Airwallet Hub – FAQ
What is the Hub?
The Airwallet Hub is an add-on to your Airwallet system. It enables real-time monitoring, remote machine start, and more stable communication for your location.
What are the main benefits of using the Hub?
- Real-time status updates even at locations without an Anton
- Remote start of machines (where supported)
- More stable communication via MQTT instead of Bluetooth
- Better performance in larger locations with multiple Antons
- Keeps the location “online” continuously (versus only when users are present)
Can the Hub replace Anton entirely?
No. The Hub cannot process card payments. Anton is still needed for card transactions. The Hub can replicate some functions (status, remote start), but not payment handling.
When should I install a Hub?
- In locations without any Anton, where you want real-time control
- In large sites where Anton’s Bluetooth connectivity struggles
- In locations experiencing unstable Bluetooth communication
How does the Hub improve system reliability?
The Hub uses MQTT communication, which is more robust than Bluetooth in many settings. Because it can be placed centrally, it provides a stable link to all machines and Antons.
Can Bluetooth still be used after installing a Hub?
Yes. The Hub is designed to supplement Bluetooth and resolve connectivity issues. In the future, hardware improvements (e.g. casing design) may make Bluetooth more reliable again.
What kind of network connection does the Hub need?
- Mobile connection via the provided antennas
- Or LAN (Ethernet) connection. If using LAN, your network must support DHCP and must not use MAC address whitelisting or VLAN tagging.
How do I set up the Hub?
- Assemble and power it (connect antennas, power plug).
- Choose a central placement with minimal obstacles to machines and Antons.
- Log into your admin dashboard at admin.airwallet.net
- Under the relevant location, click “Create Hub”, enter serial number, MAC address, password, and save.
- Activate billing for the Hub via the “Billing → Inactive → Subscribe” menu.
- Contact Airwallet support (phone or chat) so they can:
- Update Anton profiles to connect to the Hub
- Upgrade firmware on machine reader units
- Finalize configuration
