Axel – Mounting and Installation

This document will walk you through the process of installing your Axel CM30 reader to your commercial washer or dryer. This document is designed for the following types of machines:

·         Front load washers
·         Top load washers
·         Stack and single pocket dryers

What is needed:

·         Airwallet CM30 tap-to-pay reader
·         Airwallet machine specific harness or universal harness
·         Airwallet Axel CM30 mounting and drilling template
·         1-1/16” Carbide tipped hole saw. Must be Carbide tipped for Stainless steel applications.
·         Axel mounting template

Airwallet Axel CM30:

The Axel is shipped assembled for front of machine mounting. The Axel camera must always be at the top of the screen. If top of machine or large machine mounting is required, you may need rotate the base of the axel to accommodate.

Installation Template

Download This template and print it at 100% on standard paper size so the dimensions are correct. The correct dimensions are printed on the template for reference.

Recommended Dashboard Setup

Refer to Airwallet documentation for your machine type for more information.

WARNING! Disconnect power or turn off breaker to machine prior to performing this installation.

Axel Installation – Front-load machine

Using the provided template, locate the best spot in the machine to mount the Axel. Take care not to block any controls or instructions on the machine. Also, make sure not to mount near or in front of a soap dish to avoid damage to the reader.
Using a metal punch, mark the center of the mounting hole
Drill the 1-1/16 hole using a carbide hole saw. You may need to use a little cutting oil if drilling into stainless steel.
Clean surface and hole of any metal shavings and file any spurs off the hole.
Remove the retaining nut from the Axel mount and insert the Axel housing into the drilled hole.
Apply the retaining nut to the Axel mount and hand tighten. Rotate the Axel as needed for a level install.
Tighten down the retaining nut by hand or with channel lock pliers to ensure a snug fit. DO NOT overtighten.

Axel Installation – Top of machine or large dryer installation

Axel base preparation:

To keep the Axel camera at the top of the screen, some modification of the Axel must be done.

Remove the (4) four mounting screws at the four corners of the Axel base. Do not remove completely, just enough to remove the base

Once all screws are loose and the base can be removed, gently pull the base away from the Axel and rotate 180 degrees. Take care not to pinch or damage the internal wires.

Reattach the (4) four screws to the Axel and tighten. DO NOT overtighten these screws.
Follow instructions above to complete the installation on the machine.

Installing Airwallet Harness

Please refer to WISER or the documentation for the manufacturer of your machine for wiring instructions and installation of the Airwallet harness.

Once installation of the manufacturer specific harness or the universal harness is completed, simply plug the 8-pin connector on the harness into the plug inside the mounting hub on the back of the Axel unit.

Once you have confirmed all connections are made, and the serial numbers are gathered you can reassemble the machine and proceed to the software setup.
